Almajano is located in a vast floodplain of the Merdancho river. There are many natural fountains, such as La Veracruz, El Piojo or El Serenal, and springs, like the spring of La Pradera that administers water to the public fountain and wash-house.

Among its monumental buildings you can find the Church of Saint Andrew the Apostol (San Andrés Apóstol) which is a Gothic style temple from the 16th century. It still maintains two Romanesque features from the previous construction: a loophole window closed off to the outside, and a semi-circular arch that leads to the heating room. The major altarpiece has a Romanesque style and was created in 1597 by the Pedro de Ciarte, artist native of El Burgo de Osma.

Another interesting building is the chapel Ermita de Nuestra Señora de la Soledad, built in the 18th century and located on the outskirts of the town, next to the cemetery.
