This small village, with a population of less than 200, has a special charm due to its heritage and its beautiful areas. Its prime location in a small valley surrounded by holm oak, juniper and oak trees, and its abundant fauna consisting of wild boars, rabbits, partridges and quails, are the main reasons why the Hunting School of the Spanish Hunting League decided to locate their headquarters here.

Near the town, you can find the oak grove of Corpes (robledal de Corpes) where El Cid’s daughters were beaten by their husbands according to El Cantar de Mio Cid.

The Knights Templar built the castle in Castillejo de Robledo in the 12th century over an earlier Muslim fort. Today we can still see two of the towers, some of the walls of the doubled walled enclosure and a water cistern. Even part of the original Muslim wall remains on the bottom part of the fence which is quite thicker than the walls the Christians built. The west tower is atop a cliff and has a pentagonal or irregular square floor plan with few crenellations left. On the east tower, you can see its different construction styles ranging from Muslim to Christian.

The church Iglesia de Nuestra Señora de la Asunción stands out for its unique decoration with erotic motifs on the cantilevers and Tardogothic frescos that narrate the passage of the Cantar de la Afrenta de Corpes from El Cantar de Mio Cid. This Romanesque church from the beginning of the 12th century was declared a National Monument in 1985. It has a three-windowed apse with a minimal trellis and a wooden ceiling. Aside from its erotic cantilevers, there are many other interesting carvings and murals painted on the walls.

What Castillejo de Robledo is also known for is its Spring of Health (Fuente de la Salud) which, according to legends, gives water that is capable of opening one's appetite.
