This small and welcoming village with cobblestone streets and stone houses isn’t far behind the neighbouring village, Molinos de Duero, in terms of beauty. Alike Molinos, Salduero’s past was also closely linked to transport and the Transhumance.

Its town square is a very beautiful spot to stroll and includes a bridge that crosses the Douro River.

The parochial church of San Juan Bautista has a main chapel in Gothic style, covered by a rib vault with tiercerons, accessed by a slightly pointed arch of triumph. The rest of the building is from the 18th century, its construction finalising in 1733. On the side of the epistle, there is a double-drain pointed arch ogee opening with torus-mouldings and Gothic tracery with tri-lobed arches. Inside there are Rococo altarpieces and 18th-century silverware.

Maximino Peña, the best Sorian pastel painter in the 19th century was born in Salduero, where you can still see the house where he was born and lived, and where there is still part of his work. Although, some of his most important pieces of art currently decorate the walls of the Provincial Council.

On the Douro riverbanks you can find exceptional natural spaces. There is a beautiful pathway from Salduero to Molinos de Duero called “paseo del Santo Cristo”. On the other side of the river you can see Ermita del Santo Cristo. This ashlar chapel, which was restored in 1998, has two twin keystone entrance doors located under a roof held by three columns. It also has a belfry with two orbs, and there are many images inside of Christ crucified, the Virgin Mary with her son in her arms (Dolorosa), Christ tied to a column, and Christ carrying the cross. On Palm Tuesday, these images are carried on the shoulders of the worshippers and on Holy Friday, they are returned to the chapel.
