One of the main touristic attractions in this town revolves around the poet Gustavo Adolfo Bécquer who would spend a lot of time here with his wife, Casta Esteban. It is said that his story “La Corza Blanca” was written here, although it took place in Beratón.

Noviercas has opened up a museum dedicated to this poet. It is in a modern building under the Muslim Tower near the Town Square, and there you can find a collection of this works and his connection to the village. Also in the village is the house where he lived with his wife, and where one of his children was born.

The Caliphate Tower is an impressive defensive and watchtower that is still in very good shape. This Berber tower was erected in the 10th century and is about 19 metres tall. Inside there are 4 floors, and each floor is about 12x9 metres. Just like most towers, the entryway is elevated about three and a half metres from the ground. During the 19th century it was used as a prison and nowadays you can find the Interpretation Centre there.

The church of Santos Justo y Pastor is a Gothic temple that was renovated in the 17th century. Inside there is a baptismal font with a pyramid base decorated on all four sides with stone leaves that end up curling towards the corners and finished off with balls in the centre.

Towards the end of the 10th century, some events occurred in this area that gave place to the legend of the Siete Infantes de Lara. According to the legend, they were ambushed in Araviana and killed. Stories also say that their heads were taken to Córdoba, and their bodies lay in the chapel Virgen de los Remedios.

Between Borobia and Novices there is beautiful seasonal endorheic lagoon system where you can observe birds in migrating seasons.

It is said that Gustavo Adolfo Bécquer was inspired by the Pozo Román in the Araviana River to write the legend of “Los Ojos Verdes”.
