Beratón is the highest village in the province of Soria (1,395 m).

It is located on Mount Moncayo and is known for its picturesque landscapes: hills covered in holm oak that were once sacred places for the Celtiberian people and a lair for bandits. The panoramic view from what is called the wind hole (agujero del viento) that dominates the Valley of Isuela is breathtaking. Taking a look at the rugged beauty of the area, it is not difficult to imagine bandits hidden in the thick oak forest.

Around the 5th century takes place the popular legend of the Seven Infantes of Lara and their tragic death in these valleys. Land of legends, of love, of robberies and of vengeance. Various authors of different periods have written about it: Marcial (Epigrama), Marqués de Santillana (Serranillas) and Gustavo Adolfo Bécquer (La Corza Blanca).

The Church of Saint Peter the Apostol (Iglesia de San Pedro Apóstol) is a simple gothic temple with a modest façade which was built in the 14th century and completed in the 18th century. It is known for the fact that on February 8th, 1972, a group of bandits took advantage of the fact that the villagers were at mass, and locked them up inside the church to steal from their houses. This made some of the villagers escape through the bell tower.

The Mirador de la Cruz de Canto is located at the exit of the village towards Purujosa and is a lookout that lets you take in the breathtaking panoramic views of the village and the road towards Cueva de Ágreda; a path that takes you to Añón, the mountain range Sierra del Tablado and the ravine of the Isuela River.
