Located in the southern part of the province, on the border with the province of Guadalajara, is Retortillo de Soria. Here you can see many interesting examples of medieval architecture. For example, its defensive wall from the late Middle Ages which had four doors or archways, now only has two left: to the west “Arco de abajo” or “Arco de Sollera, and to the east, “Arco de arriba” or “Arco de Oriente” which was built later on in the 16th century. The defensive wall that surrounds and once protected the village is still in very good condition. Regarding religious architecture, the church of San Pedro is an excellent Gothic church that was possibly built in the 15th century.

Once inside the village, it is worth going to the town square to see the emblazoned homes with wooden porches and balconies. However, outside the northern part of the village, in the uninhabited village of Lérida, you can find the chapel of San Miguel, the only building that is still standing. It still has the original façade and 12th-century Romanesque capitals. Other chapels worth mentioning are Ermita de la Soledad and Ermita Virgen del Prado.
