ART IS LONG AND LIFE IS SHORT

Red land illuminated by the intense sun will be the setting on a journey saturated with everlasting artwork.

The medieval atmosphere in Calatañazor will set the tone for your visit where you can see the perpetual stele of Al-Mansur and El Cid. Meanwhile, in the nearby site of Uxama remain the Celtiberian and Roman spirit.

The Historic-Artistic Ensemble of Burgo de Osma presents one of the province’s most complete cultural legacy. Art, gastronomy and architecture galore, where an exquisite Romanesque, Gothic, Baroque and Neoclassical Cathedral seems to stop time.

In the wilderness, the landscape is configured by a calcareous massif framed by three canyons known as Gargantas, Pilones and Caracena. This last canyon is named after the small village of Caracena that still preserves two Romanesque churches, a pillory and a great castle from medieval times.

Besides a rich collection of heritage sites with Romanesque churches, castles, fortresses and watchtowers, this land also has wonderful natural landmarks. The Lobos River Canyon Natural Park, la Fuentona and the Calatañazor Juniper Tree Natural Reserve make up the natural triangle of great biological diversity.

It is well worth visiting the Knights Templar castle in Ucero, from which you can see a panoramic view of this town as well as part of the Lobos River Canyon.
