Veruela Watchtower (Caltojar)

This 10th-century Muslim tower is made of stonework and is about 10 metres tall, 5 metres in diameter and its walls are less than a metre and a half thick. The entrance is located high up and you can still see the jambs. On the outside, you can see the foundation stones of a wall that means that there was once an outer enclosure. This watchtower must have been used to control who crossed through the Torete River valley, and you can go up to the top to enjoy the beautiful views. There are signs that lead to the tower, although we recommend leaving your car at the road and going up to the tower on foot or with a 4x4.
