Palaeontology Centre of Villar del Río

The Palaeontology Centre of Villar del Río offers visitors not only information on the icnitas (dinosaur footprints) and the way dinosaurs lived, but also there you can learn how to identify real dinosaur footprints in a fun and educational setting.

The centre’s main aim is to teach about the worldwide scientific importance of the sites found in the region of Tierras Altas.

The icnitas that have been discovered in various sites in the province belong to the Mesozoic period, back when humans didn’t exist, and they can be seen in Santa Cruz de Yanguas, Bretún, Villar del Río and Yanguas, where there are also very impressive life-sized scale models of some of the species that left their marks behind.

Timetables:

From Holy Week to December 8th, open on weekends, national holidays and regional Madrid holidays from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
