Moñux Tower

Heritage of Cultural Interest since 1949.

This rectangular tower is made of stonework and reinforced with ashlar on the corners. It offers exceptional views of the fields of Gómara and the land of Almazán. There aren’t any battlement hexes which lead to believe that it used to be taller. The tower that we can see nowadays is from the 14th century, and there are remains of defensive walls that surround the building, plus some remains of a bigger walled enclosure that surrounded the first ones. You can also see what is left of a water pool which indicates that this tower was once controlled by Muslims. Moñux Tower played an important role in the battle between the crowns of Castile and Aragon, given that it was on the border between these two kingdoms during the 14th century. It is located in the village though in order to reach it you must leave your car on the road and go up the path on foot.
