Medinaceli Archaeological Centre

From the town square, the gate and steps recreate a sort of time warp where you can see the most significant evolutionary aspects of the region before the Romans took over.

This learning centre offers a simple and educational tour that starts with the first archaeological remains found in the nearby valley of Ambrona and ends with the Middle Ages of Medinaceli.

On this tour you will see remains found in the Jalón Valley that range from the Palaeolithic and Neolithic periods up to the Bronze and Second Iron ages. Then you will be able to witness first-hand the Roman way of life in a room that has recreated a typical street as well as a house decorated with a replica of a mosaic found in the town square, furniture and tools. The medieval room brings back the cultural triangle that once lived together in the village: Muslims, Jews and Christians. There are a Muslim market and water pool, a Hebrew Synagogue, and a Christian chapel, kitchen and necropolis in a room where you can watch an educational video on the historical evolution of this town.
