Church of San Ginés (Ambrona)

The original church of San Ginés was completely in ruins until recently a new building was erected in stone. It has one nave and a straight sanctuary between which there is a bell tower with two lintelled openings.

The altarpieces were salvaged when the building collapsed and they are now in the Cathedral Museum of El Burgo de Osma.

The altarpiece dates back to the 16th century and was first carved in wood and then painted. Parts of the predella and the attic dedicated to the Resurrection still remain. This carving was part of the exhibit The Ages of Humankind shown in Soria in 2009 due to the craftsmanship, the anatomical features, the tableaus and the harmony and balance of a composition where Christ emerges triumphant from the tomb surrounded by soldiers.
