Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary (Montenegro de Cameros)

This church has a Greek cross floor plan and a graceful quadrangular tower that is attached to the northern wall and has an ample eave. This minaret has two sections; the upper one has a rounded loophole on each wall where the bell tower is located.

This church was possibly built in the 16th century with ashlar stones on the corners and abutments on the angles to reinforce the structure.

The southern façade has an opening with a rounded arch decorated with moulding and with great keystones. Above it, there is a tiled roof and a rounded opening topped with a cross. The solid and continuous walls are interrupted by a rosette on the sanctuary; a circular opening with moulded keystones and a stone lattice with geometric motifs.

Inside, the ceilings are star-ribbed domes with tiercerons and warps, and the walls are covered with many altarpieces of different periods and styles: Renaissance, Plateresque or Baroque. There is a Baroque organ at the beginning of the temple.
