Chapel of San Baudelio (Casillas de Berlanga)

Monument since August, 1917.

This 11th-century pre-Romanesque chapel with Mozarabic influences is considered to be the best example of Sorian pre-Romanesque architecture. In the centre of the nave, there is only one pillar, a thick column from which eight horseshoe arches emerge like a palm tree. The central chapel was installed in the apse where there is also a medieval necropolis. The chapel walls are completely covered with tempera paintings, some of which are still preserved inside the church and others were removed and are kept in various museums such as a museum in Boston or Museo del Prado.
