Chapel of the Martyr Saints (Garray)

Monument since 1944.

This beautiful 12th-century Romanesque chapel is dedicated to the Martyr Saints, Nereus, Achilleus, Pancras and Domitilla. These saints aren’t widely worshipped in Spain, which makes this church quite unique. Its construction is perhaps from the first third of the 13th century and it is another clear example of Tardoroman architecture that is so common in the province of Soria. The only original remaining parts of this church are the beautiful main façade with plant motifs and the apsidal sanctuary with small apsidioles in the transept. Some interesting features are the altars and the baptismal font which some scholars date back to the Visigoth period, although it could be that they are from the Mozarabic period.
