Castroviejo

A natural space with great rocks scattered all around vast green plains. This place is one of the most impressive natural areas in the province of Soria in terms of beauty and uniqueness. From the lookout, you can see pine groves, plains, villages, the Frentes Peak, Soria and the infinite horizon. About 300 metres down the forest path, there is a path that goes off to the right, and about 5 minutes in we can find Cueva Serena, a peaceful and serene cave.

From the capital, you must go on N-234 towards Burgos, and 28 kilometres in, right after passing Abejar, turn right towards Molinos de Duero, Salduero, Covaleda and Duruelo de la Sierra. Right at the entrance of Duruelo de la Sierra, take the paved forest path on the right that runs through a pine forest, and cross once and again over the Douro River, until you reach its source. About 7 kilometres upwards, there will be a big parking lot with a fountain, picnic tables and barbecues for you to enjoy.
