The village is located in an area of Cretaceous origin proven by the great amount of fossils that have been discovered in this land. The calcareous ensemble has been eroded throughout the years and has formed a karst that on the surface shows sinkholes, many caves and sumps, as well as many springs known as fuentillas”.

In Ucero there is a Knights Templar castle that is worth the visit due to the fact that from where it is located, you can have a look at the impressive landscape with the village of Ucero and part of the Cañón del Río Lobos, and nearby is the episcopal town. Long ago there was a chocolate factory in this village as well as a mill and a wool washhouse. Leaving the village towards El Burgo de Osma is a cave called Cueva de la Zorra which is just a Roman canal that was used to provide water to the Arevaco-Roman city, Uxama Argela.
